TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer)

PROGRAM INFORMATION

DYSC is a member CT Junior Soccer Association (CJSA.org) and US Youth Soccer (usyouthsoccer.org). US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training program for all athletes with intellectual, emotional, and or physical disabilities. The program strives to provide soccer opportunities (the opportunity of soccer) for players to develop at their own pace in a safe, fun, and supportive/inclusive environment. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability. Our goal is to enable the thousands of young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the US Youth Soccer family.

Why do we need a TOPSoccer Program?

TOPSoccer was formed to perpetuate the US Youth Soccer mission statement which is, in part, "to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America's youth through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition." There are thousands of children with disabilities who need, and can be provided with, the opportunity to play soccer through the TOPSoccer program.

How will the program be run?

TOPSoccer will meet once a week on Saturday for 8 weeks each Spring and Fall, at Kenosia Soccer Park field 1 at 4 PM for 90 minutes. Children, ages 5 to 19, will be introduced to soccer games, skills, drills and friendly scrimmage with players of similar abilities. Parents will be asked to be available during the sessions to assist our volunteers. Each player will receive a soccer T-shirt and soccer trophy for participation.

What can I do to help the program be successful?

Please help by getting involved. Spread the word and come join us each Saturday. We hope for a great turn out this Spring and DYSC plans on continuing this program for years to come.
